I am available for one-hour talks and all-day workshops

Talk #1 - Rescue Quilts

I bring sixteen vintage quilts that had problems and explain how each has been restored.

Talk #2 - Improv

I bring twenty-three quilts to show the overlap and differences between traditional/modern/improvisational quilting.

Workshop #1 - Applique

I enjoy teaching improvisational “collage” quilting. We use scraps or yardage- whatever is available and we build our pictures without templates. The subject may vary - Birds or Family or Flowers - but the process is the same.

We add bits to a base and build a collage. When we are ready, we turn the edges and appliqué either by hand or machine. When the square is finished it can be bound or latticed with others to make any size runner or quilt.

This is fun and you can’t do it wrong!

Workshop #2 - Crumb

This workshop can help if you find your scrap box overtaking your sewing space.

We take that overflowing pile -any size bits - and sew them together randomly. After we have a stack of new “fabric” pieces, we cut them to size and make ANYTHING you want... potholders, pillows, throws, baby quilts, even king size quilts.

The really fun part is the surprise! Weird or ugly scraps become wonderful additions to any color palette you choose.

Workshop #3 - Stepladder

We can build “units” and combine them in any size or color. These can be made into any size quilt.
